Welcome From Bob Cooke TSTSA

Founder of the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy (1988)

Welcome to our Supervision conference website. I hope you find all you need concerning this wonderful event on this website.

After the outstanding success of MIP’s First Annual Supervision Conference in May 2023 and the subsequent request for a similar conference next year we have decided to put on this second MIP Annual Supervision Conference. There will be a series of morning and afternoon workshops in the area of Supervision – Past, Present and Future.

The main Keynote Speaker is Robin Hobbes, TSTA, who is the co-founder and co-director of the Elan Training and Development Centre in Manchester.  Robin Hobbes is a well renowned trainer and supervisor and has been a prominent figure in the area of psychotherapy training and supervision in Hale/Manchester for over three decades.

After the main keynote speaker, there will be refreshments and then the commencement of the morning supervision workshops followed by lunch and the afternoon supervision workshops will begin.  Bob Cooke will end the supervision day with the Plenary at 4.00 pm where we will all come together and say goodbye and the completion of the day.

As said above there are a number of exciting workshops run by prominent experts in the area of psychotherapy and supervision.

Supervision has always been a particular passion of mine and one I’ve been involved in in the last 35 years at clinical and managerial levels. The title of this Supervision day is “Supervision – Past, Present and Future” and supervision in itself as a discipline has evolved and changed throughout the eons to where we are today and I am more than excited to be a witness to where supervision in its essence will find itself in the future!  With reference to the workshops, I have personally known all the presenters of the stimulating and exciting workshops for many years and I am honoured and privileged that they have taken time out of their busy diaries to come and present at this unique setting and subject matter.

I hope this second Annual Supervision Conference will be as stimulating and thought-provoking as the supervision conference we hosted in May 2023.  Certainly that conference has become the bedrock and inspiration for the continuation of annual supervision conferences in Manchester and the North West.  I personally look forward to meeting you on the day and being part of the collective discussions and collegial sharing as well as pointing the way forward to future supervision conferences and collective discussions.

I am very excited and look forward to this Second Annual MIP Supervision Conference.
